The Lions drop there first pair of consecutive losses in the 2015 season. The Belles controlled the match from the beginning and continued their flawless record in the Junell Center this season.
Turning PointAfter the opening kill by freshman
Jaslyn Wacker, The Belles came back with six unanswered and dominated the remainder of the match. The Lions only lead twice in the entire match which was in the very beginning of the first and third set.
HOW IT HAPPENEDSet 1 After a big kill by
Jaslyn Wacker to start the match, the Lions went up 2-0 on Angelo State. However, the Belles came storming back with six unanswered points. When the Lions were down 9-19, Mallory Blauser put another strike down on the Lions making it her third of the set. Blauser ended the first set with five kills and the Belles cruised in the first set winning 25-8.
Set 2Set two was a sloppy set overall. There was a total of 16 attack errors split evenly between the two teams. Although the set was somewhat disordered, it helped keep the Lions in the game. Unfortunately, the timing of the Lions attack errors ended up being too costly. Mallory Blauser ended off the set with two consecutive kills and the Bells won the set 25-18.
Set 3In the third set with the score favoring the Belles 19-14, Veronica Baric gives the Lions a glimpse of hope with back-to-back kills to cut into the Belles lead. Immediately following the kills, Angelo States' Klohe Harrion makes an attack error that warrants a Belle timeout with the score now 19-17 Belles. The Lions continued to fight hard but lost the third set 21-25 after a kill by Khloe Harrion and an attack error by
Taryn Driver.
