Turning PointAs the Lions pushed to avoid a sweep, Valarie Moehrig focused and recorded two kills after committing two attack errors that helped lift the Javelinas over the Lions in three sets.
HOW IT HAPPENEDSet 1Â
With a slow start in the set, The Javelinas begin to put some space in between the teams on the scoreboard after a 4-0 run. This served to be the turning point in this set as the Javelinas coasted to a first set victory 25-18.

Taryn Driver both led the Lions with four kills.
Set 2Summer Alford tied the set at 12-12 for the Lions but was soon erased by a 5-1 run by the Javelinas to take a 13-17 advantage. Later, the Lions called a timeout down 18-22 and comes out of it with renewed energy scoring three straight points to cut the lead down to one. Texas A&M-Kingsville recovered by scoring three straight points as well to end the set with a 25-21 victory. Two of the last three points for the Javelnas were due to attacking errors by the Lions.
Set 3Alford continued to have the hot hand and led the Lions with six kills in the third set, however that was not enough to hold down the Javelinas. When the Lions were down 18-22, Alford tallied off three kills in addition to the two attack errors by Valarie Moehrig that helped tie the match for the Lions at 23. Moehrig redeemed herself quickly coming back with two kills and an added strike by Ashley Bukowski to end the set and match 26-24 for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
