The Lions face Southern Arkansas for their 2015-16 home opener

Commerce, Texas – The Lions home opener is Tuesday, November 17 as they square off against Southern Arkansas.
 
The Lions are coming off of a successful weekend splitting two games in the CSU-Pueblo Al Kaly Shrine Classic in Pueblo, Colorado. The Lions won the first game against MSU-Denver 63-59 but dropped the second game against host CSU-Pueblo 62-68. Khala Riley led the Lions by averaging 13 points per game this past weekend and shot 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Amari Jones followed her with 9.5 points per game, shot 66.7 percent from the stripe (4-of-6), and played big defensively with three blocks and three steals. Princess Davis was also a key contributor averaging 8.5 points per game, a team high 12 assists, and 10 boards.
 
Southern Arkansas is 1-0 this season after winning their home opener against Philander Smith 72-68. Despite shooting 47 percent from the floor, 55 percent from the line, and having 14 turnovers, the Muleriders pulled out the win with huge credit going to Rosa Bryant who recorded  her first double-double of the season dropping 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds with 10 of them being on the defensive end. Aleeya Harris added 17 points and Caroline Ficher behind her with 10.
