Lions Claim Second Straight LSC Tournament Title in 4-0 Tilt vs. WT

San Angelo, Texas – The A&M-Commerce soccer team punch its ticket into the NCAA Tournament with a 4-0 win over West Texas A&M to claim the program's second straight Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship Sunday afternoon.

Turning Point
- Jade Bell collected a long ball cleared by the Lions' defense, fought off a defender and beat the WT keeper to the far post to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Vicky Back took advantage of a loose ball in the box following a Savannah Grasser free kick and knocked it by the WT keeper to make it 2-0

- Bell's goal came with 16:39 on the clock in the first half when she took advantage of a deep clearance and out hustled the WT defender.
- Back's goal came with 17:23 on the clock when Grasser's free kick was knocked down in the box.

- The Lions improved to 15-18-2 overall against the Buffs while currently riding a four-match winning streak.
 
- The win gives the Lions their second Lone Star Conference Tournament in as many seasons. It is also the Lions third LSC Championship -- 2014 regular season and tournament titles and the current 2015 tournament championship – in two seasons.
 
- All told, the Lions have won seven Lone Star Conference Championships, four Lone Star Conference Tournament championships -- 1999, 2004, 2014 and 2015 – and three Lone Star Conference regular season championships – 2014, 2003 and 1999.
 
- Back scored her LSC-leading 15th goal of the season. She tops the LSC in points with 34. 
 
- Back's 15th goal of the season moves her into a tie for 5th on the schools single-season goal mark.  She ties Meagan Lasley in 2009 and Lynette Bass in 1998.
 
- Bell's goal, her seventh of the season, moved the senior forward into a tie for eighth place with 29 career goals on the Lions all-time scoring list.  She matches Chelsey Haight's total from 2007-2010
 
- Grasser finished with her first multi-goal game of the season.  She has 11 on the season giving her 31 in her three-year career placing her in fourth place on the Lions all-time scoring list. She trails Lynette Bass, 1997-00, and Erin de Wofle, 2002-2005, who each scored 32 career goals.
 
- Courtnie Northern has turned away 98 shots in 2015 moving her into eighth on the single-season saves list.  She moved ahead of Amber Ramoz and her 94 saves in 2004.
 
- Taylor Rhodes, Madison Cordts, Grasser, Ashley Phillips were named to the LSC All-Tournament Team, while Back was named the tournament's MVP.

- The Lions sealed a their second consecutive berth in the NCAA Tournament with the win. A&M-Commerce will have a watch party Monday night at 5:15 p.m. at Dos Laredos. Lions fans are encouraged to attend as the team learns it destination and opponent in the opening rounds.
