Lions Make it Five Straight After 10th 50-point Win in Program History

Commerce, Texas – The A&M-Commerce men's basketball team extended its current winning streak to five games with a 111-60 win over Southwestern College Wednesday night in The Field House in nonconference action marking the 10th time in program's history the Lions have won by 50 plus points.
 
Turning Point
- Trailing 7-6 three and a half minutes into the game, A&M-Commerce ripped off a 27-5 run over the next eight minutes to take control of the contest over the Moundbuilders.
 
Highlights
- Bryant Crowder paced the Lions in scoring with 25 points after going 11-of-13 from the field. He also hauled in eight rebounds.
 
- Everrett Pleasant tallied a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in only 17 minutes of play.
 
- Isaac Asrat (14 points), De'Andre Carson (12 points), JR Owens (11 points) and Ronnie White (10 points) rounded out the Lions in double-figures.
 
- Carson and Adams handed out seven and five assists apiece.
 
- The Lions shot 59 percent from the floor in the win, while Southwestern shot 41 percent.
 
- A&M-Commerce out-rebounded Southwestern 50-23 including a 16-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
 
- The Lions also scored a whopping 46 points in the paint compared to 26 for the Moundbuilders.
 
Summary
1st Half
- A&M-Commerce trailed 7-6 three and a half minutes into the game, but quickly turned the tables and took control of the game with a 27-5 run to take a 33-11 lead with 8:16 left before the half.
 
- The Lions went on to extend the lead out to 30 points, 60-30, following a Crowder layup with 30 seconds left, but Southwestern scored the final points of the half to trim the deficit down to 27 points, 60-33.
 
2nd Half
- The Lions continued to roll in the second half en route to the 51-point, 111-60, win.

- A&M-Commerce recorded its 10th victory by 50 or more points after the 51-point margin of victory Wednesday.  The last time A&M-Commerce won by 50 or more points was in 2005-06 when the Lions defeated Paul Quinn by 51 points, 104-53. The largest margin of victory for the Lions came in 1986-87 when then East Texas topped Southwestern Assemblies of God by 70 points, 128-58.

- Carson's 12 points matched his career-high previously set against East Central on December 14.  His five field goal makes set a new personal best for made baskets. Carson tied his career-best with seven assists.
 
- Pleasants' 15 points and 11 rebounds were both career-highs for the senior. He also recorded his second career double-double with his first come back on November 24, 2014 when he scored 12 points and collected 10 rebounds.
 
- The win moved the Lions to 8-2 on the season and conclude the four-game stand at 4-0. The Lions have also won all five games played in the friendly confines of The Field House.  Overall A&M-Commerce is currently riding a five-game winning streak.
 
What's Next?
- The Lions travel to Henderson State on Saturday, December 19 with tipoff in Arkadelphia set for 1 p.m. to conclude the 2015 calendar year.
