Turning PointA&M-Commerce set the tone early in the first jumping out to a 5-0 lead and never falling behind in this set. The dominance of the first set continued throughout the match resulting in a sweep for the Lions. The total match only had nine ties and six lead changes.
HOW IT HAPPENEDSet 1The Lions picked up where they left off from the previous game and jumped out to a 5-0 lead setting the tone early. The Lions led by as much as ten points and never trailed or tied in the set. A&M-Commerce took the first set 25-17.
Set 2The Lions continued with their foot on the gas and took a 10-5 lead beginning the second set. The Greyhounds did fight back cutting into the lead and eventually taking the lead after a kill by Desiray Anderson. Two more consecutive points by ENM after the kill forced a Lions timeout as we trailed 20-17. The Lions regained the lead 22-21 after kills by
Jaslyn Wacker and
Summer Alford along with a few errors from the Greyhounds to help. The set ended with back-to-back kills by
Layne Little and
Courtney Tate to win the set 25-22.
Set 3The Greyhounds were striving to survive the third set and avoid the Lions sweep. The Lions were down 15-10 but ignited a spark to cut the lead down to one at 11-10 after trailing by five early. Late in the set,
Layne Little tied the set at 23 with a big kill. Following the kill, Eastern New Mexico committed two consecutive errors to lose the set 25-23.

Four of Eastern New Mexico players had a negative hitting percentage for the match.
Each team had seven receiving errors however ENM had 24 attacking errors compared to the Lions 17.
Outside of the second set, ENM failed to have a hitting percentage of .060 or higher.
The Lions hitting percentage for each set was .237, .231, and .130.
What's NextThe Lions will return to The Field House in Commerce, Texas Tuesday, September 22 in a showdown against Angelo State. We are 21-34 when playing the Belles and look to get over the .500 mark at home against Angelo State where we are currently 10-10.Â
