The Lions four-game winning streak was snapped after a 64-72 loss to Angelo State on Saturday, February 13. In all games this season, the Lions average 70.9 points per game, and average 69.6 points per game in conference play. A&M-Commerce is ranked third in the Lone Star Conference in free throw percentage at 70.7, and fourth in field goal percentage at 40.2. The Lions 42.7 rebounds per game places them second best in the Lone Star Conference.

The Lady Buffs come into the rematch against A&M-Commerce with a 22-2 record this season, and are 11-2 in the Lone Star Conference. West Texas A&M has dropped one game at home and one on the road this season, both at the hands of Angelo State. The Lady Buffs average 74 points per game and have a +18-scoring margin against their opponents this season. They shoot 46.7 percent from the floor, 38.4 percent from the three-point line, and 69.8 percent from the stripe. The Lady Buffs also average 39.7 rebounds per game, 11.5 steal per game, and 4.4 blocks per game. Michaela Neuhaus and Sasha Watson average 15.3 and 11.5 points per game respectively against Lone Star Conference members. Madison Wild has a the team high in rebounds with seven boards per game, while Zantaya Davis has the team high in blocks with 36 swats this season, fifth in the Lone Star Conference.

The Lions are 5-53 all-time against the Lady Buffs and 2-23 in Canyon, Texas. In the first game the season, Zantaya Davis hit the game-winning shot to survive 69-67.
