Lions Head to Kingsville, Texas in Hopes of Continuing Their Three-Game Winning Streak

Commerce, Texas – A&M-Commerce looks to complete their third season series sweep Wednesday, February 10 against Texas A&M-Kingsville at 5:30 pm.
 
The 13-10 Lions are picking up the pace right now in the Lone Star Conference race and are now on a three-game winning streak. The Lions are above .500 in conference play with a 6-5 record albeit they have a 2-4 record on the road. Coming off of a 67-59 win at Midwestern State, the Lions defense has been stalwart, holding their opponents to an average of 61.3 points per game over the last three games. For the season, The Lions are ranked second in the Lone Star Conference with 29 defensive rebounds per game, and third in the conference with 9.04 steals per game. Offensively, the Lions has turned it up averaging 71.5 points per game, and has crawled into the top three of the conference with a field goal percentage just over 40 percent from the floor. Hero player of the week Artaejah Gay leads the Lions with a scoring average of 11.1 points per game, while Lone Star Conference player of the week Shomari Harris follows with 10.4 points per game. Harris leads the Lions with 80 total assists. Harris also ties with Princess Davis for the top slot in total steals with 36 this season.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville is 5-15 this season and have yet to pick up a conference win while nursing a 14-game losing streak. The Javelinas average 54.5 points per game this season and have been outscored by their opponents by -10.2 points. Javelina legacy Kaylin Roher leads the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game. Roher also has 31 assists, and 28 steals this season. Kyra Bauer, Tasheena Moore, and Jamesha Wade each average seven points per game, while Wade posses the team high of 30 steals. Joslyn Smith leads the Javelinas with 93 total rebounds, averaging 5.5 boards per game, and has 27 steals this season.
 
The Lions hold a 34-29 advantage over the Javelinas in head-to-head matchups and are currently on a three-game winning streak against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Lions look to sweep the Javelinas for the second consecutive season.
