HOW IT HAPPENED
The match struggled to find rhythm in a scoreless first half. Duty pushed a long range shot over the bar just before halftime to keep the game knotted at 0-0. A&M-Commerce had a 4-3 advantage in shots after the opening half of play.
Lion forward
Sophie Haywood set up the opening goal, as she was streaking towards the goal and was fouled in the penalty area in the 58th minute. Grasser stepped up to the spot and smashed the penalty kick home for the 1-0 A&M-Commerce lead.
In the 77th minute, Grasser provided the insurance goal.
Michelle Kotlik put in a corner kick that was headed onwards by
Vicky Back. Grasser then headed the ball back against the flow of play, finding the net to the goalkeeper's left to seal the win.
Despite added pressure from the Lady Buffs in an effort to claw back into the game, the guests only managed one shot in the match's final 23 minutes of play.
