COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics department announced today its academic honors from the 2017 spring semester, with 187 scholar-athletes earning honors for their work in the classroom. For the academic year with both semesters included, 370 Lion scholar-athletes earned distinction on one of the three honor rolls.
As a whole, the student-athlete population boasts a cumulative grade point average of 3.119, taking into account all 14 sport programs.
Nine of the Lions' 14 sport programs had a team grade point average over 3.0 for the spring 2017 semester.
"Our scholar-athletes continue to excel in their academic pursuits," A&M-Commerce Director of Athletics
Tim McMurray noted. "These achievements are a healthy combination of their own personal dedication and responsibility, our
Thrower Student-Athlete Success Center staff, and the tremendous support we receive from our partners in the Academic Affairs division – professors, deans, and our provost's office. It is truly Best in Class."
There are three different academic honors bestowed by the A&M-Commerce athletics department.
Best In Class honors student-athletes who achieve a perfect 4.0 grade point average in a term. The
Athletics Director's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes with a term GPA from 3.50 to 3.99, and the
Lion Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes with a term GPA from 3.00 to 3.49.

Recipients of A&M-Commerce athletics department academic honors will be proudly displayed in the Thrower Center.
