2016: Played in 11 games as a senior… Completed 10 of his 13 passes for 169 yards… Threw a 28-yard touchdown pass against Panhandle State (10/1)… Saw extended action against UT Permian Basin (11/5), completing eight of 11 passes for 137 yards.

2015: Played in six games for the Lions as a junior.
 
2014 at West Texas A&M: Saw action in three games as a sophomore ... Completed 4-of-6 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown.
 
2013 at West Texas A&M: A member of the practice squad and didn't see any action as a freshman.
 
2012 at West Texas A&M: Redshirted
 
Prior to Collegiate Career: Broke high school career passing record with 5,095 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2011… Went 192-311 with 3,148 yards, 32 touchdowns and seven interceptions… Earned TSWA All-State honors, APSE All-State accolades, offensive district MVP… Broke school single-season passing record in 2011… Named Wise County MVP… Had 1,974 passing yards, 20 TD's and 174 completions in 2010… Also played baseball.

Born March 2, 1993… Son of Kevin and Dawn Cate… Has two siblings, Kelsey and Cara. Graduated from Boyd High School in Texas.
