The Lions are coming off two road wins over UT Permian Basin and Western New Mexico. Head coach Craig Case was pleased with his team's performances and felt his team took another step in the right direction.

"It's tough to win on the road in this league," he said. "To go out and get two quality road wins was a really good thing. In both of them, we struggled at some points and played really well at some points. From Friday night to Saturday night, we learned a lot. If you can win matches and you can learn things and continue to get better, that about as good as it gets on the road."

For their play, two Lions were named LSC Player of the Week. Shelley Chapron was named Defensive Player of the Week and Rylie Fuentes was named Setter of the Week. Case was proud of the way both players performed.

"I thought they both did what we needed them to do," he said. "Shelley also had a good week offensively and could have been a candidate for offensive player of the week. She did a good job and knew what we needed her to do with affecting hitters and getting blocks. I was pleased with how she performed over the weekend.

"Then Rylie did what she has been doing all year. Whatever we ask her to do, she is going to do it and help give us an opportunity to win. She made some high-level decisions this weekend."

The Lions now face West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico. Both teams are just one game behind the Lions in the win column. Nearing the halfway mark of the conference season, Case knows these are critical matches and is preparing for two difficult matches.

"It is going to be an incredibly tough weekend," he said. "Both teams are really well coached, both teams have a ton of talent and both teams have winning traditions. These are marquee matchups in the Lone Star Conference. It is going to be a really tough weekend of volleyball and it is going to be a fun weekend. Hopefully we come out on the positive side."

Tickets for both matches are available at WeAreLionsTix.com or by visiting the Lion Sales & Service Box Office in the Field House.
