COMMERCE – Playing its way into the Lone Star Conference tournament with a 9-0 win on the final day of the regular season, the No. 7 seed Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team draws the No. 2 seed Midwestern State in the quarterfinal round of the LSC Tournament.
The Mustangs and the Lions will square on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Wichita Falls. Midwestern State is on a six-match win streak and clinched the second seed with a win over Angelo State on Saturday.
The Lions enter the postseason on a three-match winning streak, they have outscored their opponents 14-0 during the winning streak and hold an overall record of 9-7-2. A&M-Commerce posted an LSC record of 7-5-1, tying with St. Edward's for the final spot in the conference tournament. The Lions beat the Hilltoppers, 2-0 in Austin on October 23 to receive the head-to-head tiebreaker.
A&M-Commerce and Midwestern State met in Commerce this season, with the Mustangs winning 1-0 on October 20.
The LSC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament is on the line this week. The Lions are looking to head back to the national tournament for the first time since advancing to the South Central Regional final in 2016.

Neil Piper, the Lions are advancing to LSC Tournament for the ninth season in a row, which is the third-longest active streak in the conference behind West Texas A&M and Angelo State.
Since the formation of the LSC Tournament in 1996, the Lions have played in the tournament 23 times, which is also third-most in the conference.
Last spring, the Lions beat Oklahoma Christian in the divisional quarterfinal, before falling to West Texas A&M in the divisional semifinal round of the LSC Tournament.
The winner of Tuesday night's match will face the winner of Angelo State and Texas Woman's on Thursday night. Dallas Baptist clinched the overall No. 1 seed and will host the semifinal round and final round of the tournament.
