Kohou named finalist for Cliff Harris Award

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Texas A&M University-Commerce cornerback Kader Kohou has been named a finalist for the Cliff Harris Award, given to the top defensive player among NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA institutions by the Little Rock Touchdown Club and Wright Lindsey Jennings.

Kohou (Euless – Trinity) is one of 30 finalists from NCAA Division II. In its eighth year of existence, Kohou looks to be the second player from the Lone Star Conference to receive the award and is the first finalist for the Lions since Brucks Saathoff in 2018.

A five-year member of the Lion Football program, Kohou was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Back of the Year after totaling 24 tackles and six pass breakups, starting all 11 games. He also had two tackles for loss, contributed in the return game with five returns for 44 yards, and caught a 40-yard pass in his final game. He also received first team all-Super Region IV honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association.

The Cliff Harris Award winner is going to be announced on December 28, with the winner being honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's awards banquet on January 14. The winner receives the $3,000 Cliff Harris Award trophy presented by Cliff Harris. The top vote getter from each division will also be announced on December 28.

Kohou is set to participate in the Hula Bowl Classic on January 15 in Orlando, Florida.
