NATCHITOCHES, La. – A goal in the third minute of Sunday afternoon's match between the Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team and the Northwestern State Lady Demons was the difference, giving the host, Lady Demons, a 1-0 win at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.

The Lions fall to 4-4-1 in Southland Conference play, with just three matches left in the regular season. A&M-Commerce is now tied for fifth place in the standings with McNeese, both teams have 13 points. The Lady Demons are 5-2-2 in conference play and their 17 points are five points behind SLC-leading Lamar.

"It was tough today battling against a good team that came into the game rested and waiting for us," said coach Ashley Gordon. "The women competed for every blade of grass on the pitch today."

"We knew the game would come down to set pieces which unfortunately our opponent executed an early opportunity. We return to Commerce with work to do in order to prepare for our next game. "

The 2022 Southland Conference Soccer Tournament takes place in Natchitoches from November 2-6, with the top-seven teams making the tournament.
