CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi handed the Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team a 3-0 loss on Thursday night at the Dugan Wellness Center via set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-19.
 
The Lions remain in seventh place in the conference with the loss, they stand at 9-17 overall and 5-7 in Southland Conference matches. A&M-Corpus Christi wins the season series and is now 8-18 on the season and 8-4 in SLC play.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi hit .314 in the first set and had a 20-9 lead and took the last four points of the set. Despite a 3-0 run to start the second set, the Lions had the lead just twice the rest of the set and fell 25-17. In the third set, the Lions had an 8-3 lead, but the Islanders won the next six points to take the lead. A&M-Corpus Christi pulled away with a 6-0 run to lead 21-16.
 
Celeste Vela (Guadalajara, Mexico) had five kills, Maddy Rashford (Placentia, Calif.) and Reese Fetty (Farmersville) had four kills each. Breann Connally (Coolidge – Groesbeck) had nine assists, while Lyric Hebert (Arvada, Colo.) totaled 12 digs and Vela had 10.
 
The Islanders hit .344 in the match, while the Lions hit .046.
