COMMERCE – The Texas A&M University-Commerce volleyball team hosts its final home match of the season against Houston Christian on Thursday at 6 p.m. before reuniting with Northwestern State in Natchitoches, Louisiana, at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
LIONS WEEKEND SCHEDULE
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LIONS
Last week, the Lions played three matches with two at home against New Orleans and Nicholls and one on the road at Southeastern Louisiana, falling in all three. The Lions are 6-10 in conference play, 10-20 overall, and are in seventh place in the conference standings. With two matches left in the regular season, the Lions have a two-match lead over the ninth-place team, Nicholls.
WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE LIONS
Hosted by Southeastern on November 17-19 is the SLC Tournament, where the top eight teams in the conference compete for the tournament title. The Lions are currently in seventh place.
HEBERT MAKES HISTORY
Hebert won the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week award on October 17, becoming the first player in program history to earn SLC Player of the Week honors.

LIONS SWEEP PANTHERS FOR FIRST DIVISION I WIN
A&M-Commerce picked up its first win in the Division I era on September 6 at Prairie View A&M in three sets. This win also snapped a six-match losing streak to start the season and it was A&M-Commerce's first win over a Division I opponent in athletic department history.
A LOOK AT THE SLC STANDINGS
A&M-Commerce is currently in seventh place in the SLC standings ahead of UIW, Nicholls, and Lamar. The top eight teams in the conference advance to the SLC Tournament.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Houston Christian is currently sitting at 20-9 on the season and 12-4 in conference play with losses against UIW, A&M-Corpus Christi, Southeastern, and McNeese. The Huskies downed the Lions in the first half of conference play, 3-1, via set scores 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-19. The Huskies held the Lions to a .093 hitting percentage the last time they faced off.
HCU is currently tied for first place in conference standings with McNeese. As a team, HCU is nationally ranked 12
th with 16.92 digs per set and 10
th with 1,794 team digs. It is also nationally ranked 37
th with 13.77 kills per set and No.4 with 1,460 team kills.
Northwestern State is currently 15-12 on the season and 8-8 in conference play. The Lions defeated the Lady Demons 3-1, in their previous match, with set scores of 25-9, 25-23, 22-25, and 25-12. The Lady demons were held to a .152 hitting percentage by the Lions.
Northwestern State is currently tied for fifth place in conference standing with New Orleans. As a team, the Lady Demons are nationally ranked No. 31 with 16.10 digs per set and No. 13 with 1,755 team digs. They are also nationally ranked 28
th with 246 total team blocks.
