BOULDER, Colo. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team fell 6-0 at the Colorado Buffaloes on Thursday night inside Prentup Field, marking the first time that the Lions played a team from the Power Five conference in the regular season.
The Buffs scored the first goal of the match in the 28
th minute off the foot of Civana Kuhlmannn. Emerson Layne added the second goal in the 43
rd minute, followed by Kayleigh Webb's goal in the 47
th minute to start the second half.
Shyra James scored off an assist from Juliauna Hayward in the 58
th minute and scored her second goal of the match in the 66
th minute, assisted by Kuhlmann and Jenny Beyer. Layne tallied her second goal in the 77
th minute.
The Lions were restricted to six shots and three on goal.
Ashley Campuzano (Dallas – Atlas Prep) had two shots, while the other shots on goal came from
Christina Hernandez (Denison) and
Addy Higgins (Dallas – Ursuline Academy), respectively.
Colorado took 38 shots with 15 on goal.
Jen Peters (Allen) recorded a save in the first half and
Gillian McKenzie (Mesquite Horn) stopped eight in the second half.
