ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field teams closed out the New Mexico Team Open on Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

HERE. The Lions split the squads this weekend, with some athletes competing at the Colorado Invitational, which concluded on Friday.
Elizabeth Ortiz (Palacios) had a mark of 31 feet 8.75 inches (9.67m) in the women's shot put, while
De'Maya Stokes (Dallas – DeSoto) had a mark of 31 feet 4.75 inches (9.57m). On the men's side,
Gavin Edwards (Tarkington) had a mark of 42 feet 9 inches (13.03m) and Brayden Jeanotte (Horace, N.D.) recorded a mark of 36 feet 7 inches (11.15m).
In the women's triple jump,
Audrey Uzoukwu (North Garland) jumped 35 feet 6 inches (10.82m).
On the track,
Miles Noble (McKinney Boyd) timed 8.54 seconds and
Trey Wheeler (Scurry-Rosser) timed 8.77 seconds in the men's 60 meter hurdles. Ortiz timed 9.67 seconds in the women's race.
Tyke Owens (Lebanon Trail) timed 6.95 seconds in the 60 meter dash,
Jack Jones (Arlington Lamar) timed 7.20 seconds and Wheeler timed 7.49 seconds.
Ashley Benton (Waxahachie Life) timed 7.96 seconds in the women's race, followed by
La'Derria Myers (Ennis) timing 8.06 seconds, and
Braeja Johnson (Crowley) timing 8.10 seconds.
UP NEXT
The Lions are off next weekend, before splitting the squad once again on February 10-11. They are scheduled to compete in the Tyson Invitational at Arkansas and Howie Ryan Invitational at Houston that weekend.
