Lion Men close out 2025-26 on Friday at the NCAA West First Rounds

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Four competitions on Friday at the NCAA West First Rounds ended the 2025-26 season for the East Texas A&M University men's track and field team.

The Lion men close out their season with a fourth-place finish at the outdoor Southland Conference Championships and had nine entries into the regional championships, which was East Texas A&M's first time being eligible for the postseason event in the Division I era.

Calen Jones (Duncanville) started the day for the Lions on the high jump mat and cleared 6-11.5 (2.12m) to tie for 22^nd place. He was just one more clearance height away from being in the top 14 and in contention to advance to the National Championships.

The first event on the track for the Lions was the 4x100 meter relay in which they clocked in at 40.55 seconds for 23^rd, beating out Arizona State. Jayshon Hardimon (Lake Dallas), Cheyne West (Rochester, England), Kingsley Ayebide (Burutu, Nigeria), and Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) were the Lion relay squad.

In Fosuhene's first individual race of the day, he recorded a time of 10.31 seconds in the 100 meter dash, finishing 18^th with a time of 10.31 seconds. He then timed 20.85 seconds in the 200 meter dash for 20^th.

The Lion women are back in action on Saturday to close out the NCAA West First Rounds. Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) takes part in the discus at 1 p.m. followed by Jenneil Jacobie (Piat Grand Rivière, Saint Lucia) in the high jump.
