FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – East Texas A&M University men's track and field sprinter
Enoch Fosuhene advanced to the next round in both his races on Wednesday at John McDonnell Field to begin the NCAA West First Rounds.
This season is the first time the Lions are competing at the outdoor regional championships in the Division I era, which run through Saturday in Fayetteville.
Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) started his meet with a time of 10.21 seconds in the 100 meter dash, which was second best in his heat to qualify him to Friday's quarterfinals and 12
th overall.

He was also the last Lion to race on Wednesday, clocking in at 20.62 seconds in the 200 meter dash, which was also second in his heat and qualifies him for the next round, while being eighth overall.

Cheyne West (Rochester, England) competed in both the 110 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles. He raced to a time of 14.68 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles for 44
th, while finishing 41
st with a time of 52.01 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles.
Both
Jammel Ward (Royse City) and
Oguz Uyar (Cannakale, Turkey) were slated to compete on Wednesday, but did not due to injury. Ward had qualified for the long jump, while Uyar was set to race in both the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash.
The men's meet resumes on Friday with
Calen Jones (Duncanville) beginning the day in the high jump followed by the 4x100 meter relay and Fosuhene later in the evening.
Thursday sees the Lion women begin the meet in Arkansas. The only two Lions to compete are Sandy Sakyi (Bremen, Germany) and Amara Idinna (Viry-Châtillon, France) in the 100 meter hurdles at 6 p.m. The top 24 finishers in the race advance to Saturday.
