COMMERCE – East Texas A&M University track and field student-athletes
Jonas Gran and
Romi Griese were named to the Academic All-District teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators, on Tuesday.
Both Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) and Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) have been named to the Academic All-District teams for the second year in a row.
Gran scored points for the Lions at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships this past season, including taking fifth in the indoor heptathlon, fifth in the outdoor decathlon, and sixth in the outdoor javelin among Southland competitors. He is a general studies major, while being named to the Southland All-Academic team and the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Griese has been the Southland Women's Track and Field Outdoor Student-Athlete of the Year each of the past two seasons, while being a biological sciences major. She repeated as the discus champion at the conference championships and has been named to the president's list, Southland All-Academic team, and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She also competed at the NCAA West First Rounds, placing 36th in the region.
