COMMERCE – Bobby Bounds has resigned from his position with the Texas A&M University-Commerce football team to spend more time with his family.
 
Bounds said, "It was a blessing to come back to Commerce and work with the football team. The daily demands of being a coach at the collegiate level requires extraordinary time and commitment, and right now, I need to step down from my position so that I can spend more time with my family."
 
Joining the Lions staff this past season was a homecoming for Bounds, who is a Lion Athletics Hall of Fame inductee. In his playing career, Bounds quarterbacked the Lions to a conference championship and the first two playoff wins in the NCAA era. He was a two-time Lone Star Conference Offensive Back of the Year, an Honorable Mention All-American, and a two-time first team all-conference selection.
