COMMERCE – For the first time in program history, the Texas A&M University-Commerce women's golf team takes part in the Southland Conference Championships this week at Hill Country Resort Golf Club in San Antonio.

This is the final week of competition for the Lions, who are in their first year in NCAA Division I.
THE FIELD
Six other teams join the Lions in San Antonio this week. Among the full 10 members of the Southland, only Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Christian, UIW, and Lamar sponsor women's golf. Bryant (R.I.) and Augusta (Ga.), who is the defending champion, are affiliate members.
THE COURSE
The Southland Championships take place at the Hill Country Resort Golf Club, which is 6,015 yards long and the par for the course is 72 strokes.
THE SCHEDULE
The tournament will be contested over three days with one round of 18 holes on each day. Each round will begin on hole one. On Monday, the Lions are in the first wave, teeing off at 8 a.m. along with Bryant.
Marie Naeher (Neueunbuerg, Germany) takes the course at 8 a.m., followed by
Jordan Dusckas (Flower Mound Marcus) at 8:10 a.m.,
Michelle Becker (San Antonio – Reagan) tees off at 8:20 a.m.,
Henriette Stranda (Kraakstad, Norway) starts her round at 8:30 a.m., and
Benz Far-Arun (Bangkok, Thailand) tees off at 8:40 a.m.
A LOOK AT THE LIONS
The Lions took part in five tournaments this spring and took seventh place at the Texas State Invitational, ULM Invitational, and the Oral Roberts Invitational.
Far-Arun, who is the Lions' top seed this week, took seventh at Texas State and finished in the top 30 in four of the five tournaments this spring. Last week, Stranda finished tied for 11
th at Oral Roberts, which was her first collegiate top 15 finish.
