WACO – J.T. Smith broke the Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field 100 meter dash record on Saturday at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
Smith (Klein Oak) clocked in at 10.18 seconds to win the 100 meter dash, which also sets the new school record. It is the first time in the fully automatic timing era that a Lion ran a wind-legal time of 10.20 seconds or faster.
"We are heading in a great direction down the stretch," said coach
George Pincock. "It was good to see Nikita get a mark in tough conditions and season best times on the track for J.T. and the women's 4x400 meter relay. A lot of good things to build upon next week and into the conference championships."
