COMMERCE – The honors continue to roll in for Texas A&M University-Commerce defensive back
Max Epps, who was named the FedEx Ground FCS National Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4.
Epps (Spring – Dekaney) is the first National Player of the Week award winner in any sport for A&M-Commerce in the Division I era and first since the spring of 2022. He was also named the SLC Defensive Player of the Week earlier in the day on Monday.
In the game against Old Dominion on Saturday, he recorded two interceptions, which puts him in a tie for the FCS lead and he leads the country with 150 interception return yards. He also recorded four tackles and a pass breakup in the narrow loss for the Lions at the Monarchs.
Epps is the first player from the Southland this year to earn an FCS National Player of the Week award.
