Dolehide Elevated to Director of Golf

COMMERCE – Texas A&M University-Commerce athletics announced on Friday that Brian Dolehide has been elevated to Director of Golf, overseeing both the men's and women's golf programs.

"Brian is uniquely positioned to serve as our new director of golf," said Director of Athletics Jim Curry. "He demonstrated exceptional leadership and adaptability under challenging circumstances to lead our women's golf program to second-place finish in the Southland Conference tournament this spring. We are excited to see what's next for Lion golf under his direction."

Dolehide has served as the head men's golf coach for the Lions over the last two seasons and led the women's golf program on an interim basis this past spring as the program had a second-place finish at the conference championships and two individuals in the top 10.

"I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to become the Director of Golf for the Lions," said Dolehide. "We have built a strong foundation here in Commerce and plan to continue to build on that foundation and bring home trophies!"

Under Dolehide's leadership, the men's golf program has recorded 12 top 10 team finishes, while two individual golfers have finished in the top five and four additional golfers recorded top 10 individual finishes.

This spring, the women's golf program finished in the top five in three of the five tournaments. The program had recorded just two top five finishes in the three prior semesters in the Division I era. Individually, Lion women's golfers carded five top 10 finishes under Dolehide.

Dolehide arrived to Commerce in August 2022 after a stint on coach Mike McGraw's staff at Baylor, Dolehide was a standout at Florida Atlantic and a three-time state high school champion in Illinois.

Following his playing career at FAU, Dolehide was a volunteer assistant with the Owls before moving north to Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, for one season as an associate head coach of the men's and women's golf programs.

In his lone season in Waco, the Bears won a tournament for the second year in a row and were led by Johnny Keefer, who was minted as an All-American Big 12 Men's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year.

A native of Hinsdale, Illinois, Dolehide received bachelors of marketing from Florida Atlantic  and Master's of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern in 2024. He now resides in Rockwall. His sister, Caroline, is a professional tennis player, being a six-time semifinalist in doubles at Grand Slams and is currently ranked No. 20 for doubles in the world.
