PALM DESERT, Calif. – Two East Texas A&M University men's golfers finished in the top 25 as the Lions tied for 11^th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate this week at the Classic Club.
 
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland) rose 14 spots in the final round for a score of 213 (68-75-70), which put him in an eight-way tie for 17^th. Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa) finished in a six-way tie for 25^th with score of 214 (73-66-75).
 
"The guys fought hard out there this week, those were some long days out in the desert," said director of golf Brian Dolehide. "Davis with another solid finish and Matt tying for the low round of the tournament were the highlights of the week."
 
"We competed with some pretty great teams out here and we're excited to make some minor adjustments heading into HCU in a few days!"
 
Maryland's Emil Riegger won the individual medal, edging out a trio of golfers by one stroke. Riegger totaled a score of 206 (70-69-67).
 
On the team leaderboard, No. 46 ranked Colorado pulled away for a 12-stroke win over Maryland. The Lions' score of 868 tied them for 11^th with UC Santa Barbara, two strokes in front of Cal Poly and two back of Drake.
 
Nicke Kaajavirta (Kajaani, Finland) tied for 58^th with a score of 220 (74-73-73), while Cooper Watt (Rockford, Ill.) had a score of 223 (73-76-74) to tie for 79^th and Janis Erll (Lich, Germany) tied for 88^th place with a score of 227 (78-74-77).

The Lions are right back on the course at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Sugar Land on March 2-3.
