FRISCO – Gracie Campbell and Jade Washington from the East Texas A&M University volleyball team have been named to first team all-Southland Conference on Wednesday morning.
 
Campbell (Klein Oak) and Washington (Waco – Midway) are the first two Lions to be named to first team all-Southland in the Division I era. In the previous three years, East Texas A&M had just one player earn all-conference honors.
 
This season, Campbell led the way offensively for the Lions, being top 10 in the country with an attacks per set average of 12.2. She was also third in the Southland with an average of 4.1 kills per set during conference play. Campbell averaged 2.63 digs per set this season as well. This is the first time that the junior outside hitter has earned all-conference honors in her career.
 
Washington put together one of the most stellar seasons for a freshman in NCAA Division I this year. She ended the regular season averaging 5.62 digs per set, which is second in the country and her total of 551 digs is eighth. She was named the Southland Defensive Player of the Week twice during the regular season and was second among SLC liberos during conference play with an average of 5.31 digs per set.
 
The Lions are set to host the Southland Tournament this weekend in the Field House and take on top-seeded SFA at 7 p.m. on Friday. More information on the tournament can be found HERE.
