COMMERCE – Every East Texas A&M University men's basketball team member that appeared in Monday morning's game scored at least three points as the Lions rolled to a 119-60 win in the season opener over Arlington Baptist at the Hunt Regional Healthcare in the Field House.
 
The Lions began the season at home for the first time in the Division I era and are 1-0 for the first time in the Division I era as well. East Texas A&M had a lead as big as 65 in the game against the Patriots.

Monday was Education Day for the Lions, presented by Signature Solar. Over 1,700 kids from in and around Commerce and Sulphur Springs were in attendance. 
 
Two records for the Lions nearly fell as they shot 63 percent in the game, which is the second best shooting percentage in a game in program history and recorded 35 assists, which is also second best.

For the Lions, Ronnie Harrison (Forney) had 20 points on 9 for 11 shooting and totaled six rebounds, three assists, and three steals as well. Vinny Sigona (Prestonwood Christian Academy) shot 5 for 6 from deep for 17 points, while London Fields (Tupelo, Miss.) added 11 points and six assists. Josh Taylor (Atlanta) had eight points and seven rebounds and a block as well.
 
Off the bench, Damian Garcia (Houston – Dobie) added 10 points and six assists, while Michael Folarin (London, England) scored 13 and Noah Paggotto (Wollongong, Australia) added 10 points.
 
On the other end, Marcel Dalcourt scored 14 points to lead the Patriots.
