AUSTIN and SAN MARCOS – Battling inclement weather throughout the day at both the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational, several East Texas A&M University track and field student-athletes competed on Thursday.
 
Both the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational continue on Friday.
 
TEXAS RELAYS
Only three student-athletes competed in the Texas Relays for the Lions on Thursday. Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) took seventh in the 'B' section of the men's javelin with a mark of 175-11 (53.62m), while Joshua Kommer (Balingen, Germany) just missed out on finals, taking 10^th with a mark of 163-9 (49.92m).
 
Nicholas Deutsch (Frisco) finished 10^th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:18.66.

BOBCAT INVITATIONAL
Romi Griese (Salzkotten, Germany) threw 156-02 (47.61m) in the 'A' section of the discus in San Marcos for third. Cassandra Rendon (San Antonio – Madison) came in 15^th with a mark of 122-00 (37.20m).
 
In the 'B' section of the women's long jump, Amaka Ezukanma (Fort Worth – Timber Creek) jumped 18-1 (5.51m) for third.
 
Kommer timed 16.98 seconds for 13^th in the 'B' section of the 110 meter hurdles. Kingsley Ayebide (Sapele, Nigeria) took second with a time of 10.77 seconds in the 'B' race of the 100 meter dash.
 
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase on the women's side, Haleigh Risner (Winnsboro) finished sixth with a time of 12:29.08. On the men's side, Noah Fernandez (San Antonio Central Catholic) clocked in at 9:47.81 for 10^th, while Yosef Abdulrazeq (Mansfield Legacy) took 13^th with a time of 9:58.35.
 
Jeremiah Garcia (Northwest Eaton) took 15^th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:04.45 and Alex Speer (Robinson) clocked in at 15:07.51 for 16^th.
