COMMERCE – Playing their third straight home match, the East Texas A&M University soccer team suffered an 8-0 loss to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday night at the Lion Soccer Field.
The Golden Hurricane opened the scoring with an own goal in 13th minute, followed by a penalty kick goal, and led 5-0 at the half, adding three in the second half to improve to 5-2 overall this season and 2-1 over the Lions over the last three seasons.
The Lions fall to 3-3 overall, suffering their first loss at home this season. The eight goals allowed are the most in program history. The previous high was seven goals allowed to Metro State Denver in 2005.
Both Jordan Frederick and Blaine Schutte had two goals in the match, while Kaylyn Simmons, Aniya Facen, and Hannah Chance had a goal each. Tulsa had the 25-13 advantage in shots, with 14 shots landing on goal.
