PAWLEY ISLANDS, S.C. – A nine-stroke improvement on Monday saw the East Texas A&M University men's golf team climb on the team leaderboard at Golfweek Fall Challenge on the True Blue Golf Club.
The Lions' climb on the leaderboard was fueled by all but one golfer in the lineup shooting a better score during Monday's second round than the first round on Sunday.
After two rounds, Georgia Southern is the team leader by seven strokes, while GSU's Harrison Sewell has a one-stroke lead in the individual leaderboard.
Davis Seybert (Trinity Midland) is tied for 25
th place with a total of 142 strokes after two rounds, shooting a 69 on Monday.
Cooper Watt (Rockford, Ill.) sits in a tie for 32
nd place with a score of 143 (72-71), followed by
Janis Erll (Lich, Germany) in a tie for 48
th place with a score of 146 (74-72).
Rounding out the Lions,
Dayne Bachmeyer (Pflugerville – Weiss) had the biggest improvement for the Lions, shooting six strokes better than the first round, being tied for 57
th with a score of 148 (77-71).
Matt Walters (Ballito, South Africa) is tied for 67
th with a score of 151 (73-78).
The third and final round of the tournament begins at 7:45 a.m. eastern on Tuesday, with Walters being the first Lion to tee off, followed by the rest of the team in nine-minute intervals. Live scoring can be tracked
