King earns Academic All-America honors, first for SLC since 2022-23

AUSTIN – East Texas A&M University football linebacker Koby-Sebasyen King has capped off his collegiate career by being minted as an Academic All-American, announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday morning.

King (Houston – Summer Creek) is the first Academic All-American for the football program in the Division I era and just the second for East Texas A&M across all sports over the past four seasons. He is the 24th Academic All-American in school history.

Having been named the Southland Conference co-Student-Athlete of the Year earlier this month, he was selected to SLC all-academic team, second team all-Southland, Dave Campbell's Texas Football all-Non FCS team, following the 2025 season. King was named to the second team All-America list by the CSC.

A business administration major, King totaled 113 tackles and 5.5 sacks last season. He is one of 17 honorees from FCS football this year to be named to the Academic All-America team.

Across the Southland, King is the first Academic All-American in any sport since 2022-23, when former Lion Delan Edwin was named to the Academic All-America team for track and field.
