COMMERCE – The McNeese Cowboys hit 14 three-pointers on Saturday evening on their way to winning 97-54 over the East Texas A&M University men's basketball team at the Hunt Regional Healthcare court in the Field House.
The Cowboys have won seven straight over the Lions and are now 21-5 overall and 14-3 against Southland Conference teams, while the Lions fall to 10-17 overall and 5-12 in conference play.
After the completion of all games in the Southland on Saturday, the Lions are now in a four-way tie for ninth place, being a game back of the final spot into the conference tournament with five games to play.
The Lions jumped out to a 7-3 lead, but then a 11-1 run pulled the Cowboys ahead in a span of two minutes and 10 seconds and they did not trail again in the game. The Cowboys' largest lead in the first half was 19 points and scored the final seven points of the game to take game-best 43-point lead at the end of the second half.
Ronnie Harrison (Forney) had team-best 19 points for the Lions and
Noah Pagotto (Wollongong, Australia) added 12 points and seven rebounds. Javohn Garcia shot 8 for 12 from the field and 5 for 8 from deep for 21 points for the Cowboys.
