NEW BRAUNFELS – The East Texas A&M University women's golf team began its spring season on Monday at the Landa Park Municipal Golf Club, sitting in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Texas State Invitational.
The Lions are led by
Marie Baertz (Luxembourg), who is tied for seventh with a score of 143 (71-72) through two rounds. The Bobcats shot 12-under par in the afternoon round in their home tournament to grab a four-stroke lead over Tarleton entering the third round on Tuesday.
Through two rounds, the Lions posted a score of 602 (298-304), two strokes behind UIW and one ahead of Creighton for sixth place.
Following Baertz,
Tais Moreno (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) climbed 10 spots on the leaderboard in the second round to tie for 25
th place with a score of 150 (76-74).
Marie Naeher (Neuenbuerg, Germany) is tied for 36
th, totaling a score of 152 (73-79).
Becky Baberg (Asendorf, Germany) posted a score of 157 (78-79) to tie for 55
th and
Linnea Olsson (Beddingestrand, Sweden) shot a 159 (79-80) to tie 63
rd.
Tarleton's Louise Depadt is the individual leader with a score of 134 (70-64), four strokes ahead of teammate Louise Depadt.
