NACOGDOCHES – East Texas A&M track and field teams set a school record and punched several tickets to the finals on Friday at Homer Bryce Stadium as the Lion women are fifth at the Southland Conference Championships, while the men are seventh through two days.

COMBINED EVENTS
The men's decathlon wrapped up on Friday as two Lion men placed in the top seven and three Lions finished the decathlon.
Jonas Gran (Riehen, Switzerland) took fifth with 7,154 points, with a first-place mark of 192-1 (58.55m) in the javelin.
Joshua Kommer (Balingen, Germany) totaled 6,377 points for fifth. His best placement on Friday came in the 1,500 meter run, where had the fastest time of 4:33.25.
Joshua Nate (Geneva School of Boerne) recorded 6,227 points for 10
th.
In the women's heptathlon,
Tina Samson (Benin, Nigeria) placed fifth with 4,845 points. She took fourth in the javelin with a mark of 116-5 (35.48m) and timed 2:30.60 in the 800 meter run for fifth. She was the lone Lion to finish the heptathlon.
WOMEN
Outside of Samson, the only other Lion woman to score on Friday was
Edith Martinez (Sulphur Springs), who timed 11:18.43 for seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Two Lions are on their way to the finals in the 100 meter hurdles as
Sandy Sakyi (Bremen, Germany) had a time of 13.46 seconds to advance and
Amara Idinna (Viry-Châtillon, France) clocked in at 13.63 seconds for fourth in the prelims.
Leah Pettis (McKinney – North) took the last spot in the 100 meter dash finals with a time of 11.73 seconds.
Sydnee Wilson (Lewisville) just missed the finals, clocking in at 11.75 seconds for ninth.
MEN
Jammel Ward (Royse City) missed the podium in the long jump, but took fourth with a mark of 24-5.25 (7.45m). He was the only Lion to score in the field events on the men's side on Friday.
In the preliminary races on the track,
Cheyne West (Rochester, England) is through to the finals in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.03 seconds for fifth, which is a new school record. Cameron Macon had the previous school record of 14.05 seconds, set on May 15, 2022.
Myles Redding (Waco – University) clocked in at 47.21 seconds for sixth in the 400 meter dash and is through to the finals.
Just like they did in the 200 meter dash prelims, the Lions had the two fastest times in the 100 meter dash with
Enoch Fosuhene (Accra, Ghana) timing 10.14 seconds, just a second off the school record, while
Oguz Uyar (Cannakale, Turkey) had a time of 10.25 seconds for second.
WOMEN'S TEAM SCORES
Nine events have been scored on the women's side, with the Lions scoring in six of them. Lamar holds the top spot entering the final day with a team score of 63 points, while the Lions are fifth with 32 points.

Three Lions recorded points on Friday to increase the team score to 15, which puts East Texas A&M in seventh after the first two days. SFA's 64 points are just a point ahead of UIW after seven events.
