SAN MARCOS – The East Texas A&M University soccer team was defeated by the No. 21 ranked Texas State Bobcats with a final score of 2-0 on Thursday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
The Lions managed 13 shots with four on goal, but could not find the back of the net. This is the second consecutive game in which the team has achieved at least 13 shots.
The Bobcats capitalized on a corner kick opportunity, notching the period's only goal at the 19:50 mark of the first half on an own goal. Texas State managed to break the deadlock with a goal by Annabelle Fisher in the 85th minute, extending its lead to 2-0.
East Texas A&M holds a record of 1-2-1 overall, while the Bobcats stand at 4-0-1 overall. The Lions have been shutout for the second time this season, while Texas State came into the match ranked No. 21 in the country.
Makayla Gonzalez (South Grand Prairie) recorded three saves in the match, facing 14 shots on goal.
Kristen Sueltz (The Colony) contributed offensively with three shots.
Addisen Ramirez (Waxahachie) kept pressure on the opposing defense, managing two shots on goal.
Isabella Queneau (Plano East) also made an impact with two shots, including one on target.
