COMMERCE – After just one goal was scored through the first 84 minutes on Thursday evening, the East Texas A&M University soccer team and UTSA combined for two goals in the final six minutes with the Lions equalizing first, but the Roadrunners scored with 20 seconds left to secure a 2-1 win at the Lion Soccer Field.
The Lions and the Roadrunners met for the fourth time in the last five years, with UTSA now being 4-0 in the series. East Texas A&M is winless in its last five matches, falling to 1-4-1 on the season, while the Roadrunners improve to 3-0-3.
The Roadrunners went in front on Lilli Denhardt's goal at 14:26. UTSA had a goal waved off in the first half after a video review. In the early minutes of the second half, the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty kick, which was saved by the Lions'

The Lions pulled even at 1-1 on a goal from
Phoebe Wilson (Freeport, Grand Bahamas) at 84:30, but the Roadrunners scored at 89:39 on Brooklyn Bailey's goal assisted by Sofia Peters to hand the Lions a 2-1 loss. Wilson appeared in her first match as a Lion on Thursday, being entered into the match with less than 10 minutes left.
Wilson converted her lone shot on goal for two points.
Allyson Reed (Cleburne) led the Lions with eight shots and put two on frame.
Lena Junior (Frisco – Liberty) added four shots, including one on goal. Finlinson recorded five saves in 45 minutes in goal, with all five coming in the second half.
The Lions achieved a season-high of 16 shots in the match.
