Stephen Pearce is in his secondseason as an assistant coach for the Texas A&MUniversity-Commerce men’s basketball team.
At A&M-Commerce, he is involvedwith the recruiting, scouting and the break down of film ofupcoming opponents. Last year, Pearce and the Lions finished secondin the Lone Star Conference North Division.
He came to A&M-Commerce fromCollin County Community College where he was an assistantbasketball coach for three seasons. He helped the Cougars reach theRegion V tournament in each of his three seasons and played aninstrumental role in the program’s recruiting, scouting,strength and conditioning, player development, film exchange andstudy hall. During his tenure at CCCC, the Cougars compiled a 61-31overall record. During the summer of 2008, Pearce coached the WylieHigh School varsity team and has been teaching private basketballlessons since 2007. He also worked as a basketball referee from2002-07 officiating youth, high school and senior leagues.
As a coach, he has recruited andhelped develop multiple professional players including DeUndraeSpraggins, Almaad Jackson, Quincy Sarpy, Eugene Spates and JaretVon Rosenberg.
Pearce earned his bachelor’sdegree in business administration from the University of Texas atDallas in the spring of 2008. He completed his associate’sdegree from Collin County Community College in 2006 and graduatedfrom Wylie High School in 2003. As a senior, he earned all-stateand district MVP honors in both football and basketball.
