Playing against a decidedly inferior team on our own field, the Lions became over confident and allowed the visitors to put across a long forward pass for a touchdown in the first two minutes of play. But after that, they came back strong, holding the Marshall team scoreless while they put across five touchdowns themselves. Grissom, Holly, Fowler and Wimberly all made brilliant plays, Grissom running sixty yards for a touchdown, and Fowler going thirty-five after intercepting a forward pass. Blevins made himself a reputation as a sprinter by overtaking a Marshall player twenty yards from the goal line after a run of forty-five yards.
