Playing their second out-of-town game in succession, the East Texas State eleven trampled the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets 33-0 at Brownwood, October 4, for their third straight win of the season.

The Lions scored in the first four minutes of play and kept rolling to build up a 26-0 lead at the half. Bobby Wilkinson broke loose for two long touchdown gallops and James Batchelor crashed the line for two more in the sensational first half drive. Bobby Griffin tossed a short pass to Bill Venner for the final touchdown in the fourth period. Berryman amassed 238 net yards on the ground and 225 net via the aerial route.
