WICHITA FALLS, Texas – LaDon Carnegie scored 22 points, but Midwestern State hit 11 three-pointers and dominated the offensive glass in picking up a 75-63 win over A&M-Commerce on Saturday at Ligon Coliseum.

The Lions (14-7, 3-6 LSC) trailed just 38-30 at the half, but Midwestern State (15-6, 7-2 LSC) connected on seven of its 13 three-point tries in the second period and never trailed in the final period, leading by as much as 18.

A&M-Commerce shot 44.4 percent from the field, compared to just 40.6 for MSU, but the Mustangs attempted 19 more shots from the field, thanks in large part to a 17-5 edge on the offensive glass and 14 Lion turnovers.

Carnegie connected on a pair of three-point buckets and six of seven foul shots to build his 22-point night, while
Devondrick Walker was not far behind with 14 points of his own, including a pair of triples and six free throws.
Christian Macauley added 11 points, six rebounds and four of A&M-Commerce's season-high 10 blocked shots.

Monzaigo Williams led the Mustangs with 18 points and nine assists, while Eddie D'Haiti joined him in scoring with 18 points and seven rebounds.

The Lions outshot the Mustangs in the opening half, 52 percent to 40 percent, but allowed eight offensive boards and turned the ball over a dozen times, allowing MSU to take a 38-30 lead into the break despite 10 points from Carnegie.

There were five lead changes in the first half with the Lions holding a 25-22 lead as late as the 6:44 mark in the first period after a three from Walker. But the Mustangs closed out the half on a 16-5 run, taking the lead for good on a three-point bucket from Jamichael Rivers with 4:32 remaining.

It took MSU just over two minutes into the second half to build the lead to double digits. From there, the Lions were not able to get the lead back to single digits until a pair of foul shots from
Kenny Brown with 10:35 to play cut the lead to 53-45.

But the Mustangs then ran off four consecutive possessions resulting in three-point makes, including two from Williams and one from Cam Adderley with eight minutes remaining that built the lead to its peak at 65-47.

In all the Mustangs finished 7-for-15 from beyond the arc in the second half alone, negating a 12-for-22 outing at the foul line. The Lions finished 18-for-27 at the line, and 5-for-10 from three, but was just 1-for-3 in the second half from beyond the arc.

The Lions return to action on Thursday at Texas A&M-Kingsville with tip-off slated for 8:00 p.m.
