POTTSBORO, TEXAS – Though A&M-Commerce's Women's golf team improved by 17 strokes over their first round performance, the Lions still finished ninth out of 15 teams at the Texoma Chevy Dealers Lion Invitational, hosted by A&M-Commerce at the 5,986 yard, par-72 Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro.
Emily Taylor finished in the Top 20 for the Lions, carding an overall score of 168.
Ali Leasor (T-33rd, 175) improved on her rain-soaked first round performance, as did
Katy Goen (T-40, 177),
Zoey Daneshfar (51st, 183) and
Emily White (T-52nd, 184). A&M-Commerce had four women compete individually, including
Celeste Emeott (T-30th, 173), who shot her way 14 spots up the leaderboard by improving 11 shots on her first round performance.
Katelyn McCreight (T-46th, 179),
Alaina Martinez (50th, 181) and
Emily Childress (74th, 206) also competed as individuals.
Newman University won the invitational thanks to stellar play by Kendall Anderson (1st, 153) and Emily Aird (2nd, 154), followed by Texas Wesleyan in second and LSC rival Cameron in third. The Lions are back in action next Monday when they travel northwest to Wichita Falls for the Midwestern State Invitational at the Champions Course at Weeks Park.
