Canyon, Texas – A&M-Commerce will travel out to Canyon for a daunting four-game Lone Star Conference series against No. 1 ranked and the NCAA DII defending National Champions, West Texas, with first pitch of Friday's doubleheader set for 5 p.m.
The Buffs (20-3, 7-1 LSC) have held the top spot in the NFCA for the past 56 weeks after swiping the 2013-14 NCAA Championship.
West Texas leads the LSC in ERA at 1.95, on-base percentage at .479 and in scoring averaging 8.4 runs per game. They are second in the NCAA in on-base percentage and seventh in scoring.
The Lions (15-11, 4-2 LSC) lead the league in stolen bases at 2.9 per game and are seventh in the NCAA.
Luci Ponce paves the way at the plate with a .418 batting average with 33 hits in 79 at bats with 29 RBI and seven home runs. In the circle for the Lions,
Courtney Moore carries a 13-inning scoreless streak into the series. Moore has a 1.22 ERA in seven games with three complete games and two complete-game shutouts.
The series starts Friday at 5 p.m. and will conclude Saturday with two games beginning at 1 p.m.
