Kingsville, Texas – The A&M-Commerce softball team will finally get to open its Lone Star Conference schedule with a doubleheader on the road at Kingsville Saturday starting at 1 p.m. to open a four-game set against the Javelinas.
The Lions enter the contests at 11-7 overall, while Kingsville enters the series at 6-7 on the season and 0-2 in conference play after dropping a doubleheader to then ranked No. 6 Angelo State on March 1.
Offensively,
Luci Ponce leads the Lions with .434 batting averaging with 23 hits in 53 at bats. Ponce has also driven in a team-high 20 runs. She also leads the team with four home runs.
Between the circle,
Aundria Romero is 6-2 with a 2.26 ERA in 11 appearances and 55.2 innings.
Selena Rima is second on the team with 45.1 innings pitched. Rima leads the team with 42 strikeouts.
As a team, the Lions hit at a .303 clip, while holding opposing batters to a .270 batting average.
Kingsville enters at .305 on the season with opposing hitters having a .338 batting average. As a pitching Staff the Javelinas sport a 3.91 ERA.
Day one of the series starts Saturday at 1 p.m. with the final two games set for noon on Sunday.
