Lions host LCU seeking third straight home win

COMMERCE, Texas – The A&M-Commerce soccer team held on for a 2-1 victory over Emporia State on Sunday afternoon, their third victory through their first four games of the year. On Tuesday, the Lions turn their attention to Lubbock Christian, a match slated to begin at 3 pm at Lion Soccer Field.

Quotable
- "Lubbock is similar to Emporia in the sense that they have dangerous players up front and they come at you. They are coming back from a trip to Colorado, and we know how that feels. They could be reenergized, or they could be tired. I expect an open game." – Lion head coach Neil Piper

About the Lions
- The Lions scored both goals in the first half in Sunday's victory, the second straight game with multiple first half goals.
- Savannah Grasser's 43rd-minute penalty kick was the fourth of her A&M-Commerce career, and she has yet to miss one. Grasser also has two game-winning goals this season and ten for her career, more than any other active Lion.
- A&M-Commerce is 2-0 at Lion Soccer Field this season after victories against Oklahoma Baptist and Emporia State.
- The Blue and Gold were offsides for the first time this season in the second half of their fourth game.
- The Lions are scoring 3.3 goals per game, though they have only hit that mark in a game once.
- Tuesday's game marks the third game in five days for A&M-Commerce.
- Against non-LSC teams from Texas in the last three years, the Lions have gone 4-6, and each of their next two games fit that description (LCU, St. Mary's).
- Vicky Back has scored five goals in her last two games. Her previous career total was four goals.
- Courtnie Northern has recorded at least three saves in each contest so far this season.
- The Lions have seen one former Sooner Athletic Conference member already this year, defeating Oklahoma Baptist 10-0.

The Series
- The Lions and Lady Chaps have never met previously head-to-head. Each team has played Western State in Gunnison, Colorado this season, with the Lions winning 1-0 and the Lady Chaps falling 5-0.

About the Lady Chaps
- LCU won their season opener on September 3rd against the University of the Southwest, but since then, the Lady Chaps have tied twice and lost once.
- The Lady Chaps has yet to play a school from Texas this season, going 1-0-1 against the state of New Mexico and 0-1-1 on the recent trip to Colorado.
- Lubbock Christian is looking for their first road win of the 2015 season.
- Brooke Wendl enters play as the team leader in goals (5), assists (2), shots (19), and shots on goal (13). She has also been credited with the team's lone game winner.
- The Lady Chaps are allowing 2.2 goals per game in 2015.
- 22 of 24 LCU players are from Texas, with Kate O'Gara and Lois Golley being the only two exceptions. Both are from England.
