HOW IT HAPPENED
The game was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m. but was delayed for nearly three hours thanks to storm systems in West Texas.
After forcing a UTPB punt, the Lions scored on their first offensive play when Perez found Hobbs for a 23-yard touchdown pass with 12:28 left in the first quarter. With 8:55 left in the opening period, Perez found Hobbs again for a 42-yard scoring play
Kincade pushed the lead to 21-0 at the 6:25 mark with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and Perez' 20-yard touchdown pass to Wilson made it a 27-0 lead after the first quarter.
Kristov Martinez made a 24-yard field goal and
Ovie Urevbu hauled in a short 2-yard touchdown pass, pushing the Lion lead to 37-0 with 8:13 left in the first half.
An 8-yard Perez touchdown pass to Cowan after a UTPB score made it a 37-7 lead for A&M-Commerce at halftime.
Urevbu punched in a 1-yard touchdown carry and the Lion scoring effort was capped on a 48-yard touchdown pass from Rodriguez to Marsh. The Falcons scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, but another incoming storm pattern ended the game before any further scoring for either side.
