Commerce, Texas -- A&M-Commerce head football coach Colby Carthel has announced seven regional camps across Texas and three elite camps in Commerce for incoming high school sophomores, juniors and seniors throughout the summer. 
 
"We are doing a total of 10 camps across the state and here on campus in Commerce," A&M-Commerce head coach Colby Carthel said.  "It's important for us to take our program to the student-athletes and help expand the Lion Football brand throughout the great state of Texas."
 
The seven regional camps will be in Houston, San Antonio, Austin (Central Texas) and Dallas-Fort Worth.
 
"We feel our camps are a great opportunity for our coaching staff to spend quality time with the student-athletes we will be recruiting," Carthel added.  "Getting to know the student-athletes on a coaching level is invaluable for both the student-athletes and our staff. We feel it really gives us a chance to standout instead of being just another coach in an overcrowded recruiting world."
 
Nearly 75 percent of the 2016 A&M-Commerce signing class attended a Lion Football camp last summer.
 
The camp format is designed to improve the skill set of the student-athlete not just another testing combine.
 
"We've had great feedback from Texas high school football coaches on the style of camps we run," Carthel said. "We really feel it benefits the student-athletes and helps them hone their skills."
 
The Lion Football camps will feature guest coaches from all levels of football including many Division I programs. 
 
"The student-athletes in attendance will have a huge advantage," Carthel commented.  "They will be able to work with and workout in front of a variety of coaches and programs.
