RICHARDSON– Texas A&M University-Commerce thrower
Steven Sanchez has been named to the Lone Star Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field All-Academic Team. The Academic teams were announced by the conference office on Friday.
Sanchez– a junior from New Braunfels– has made the LSC Commissioner's honor roll four times in his time at A&M-Commerce. He has made the Dean's List three times and twice made both the Lion Honor Roll and the Athletics Director's list. He also was named to the Best In Class Honor Roll once. In competition, Sanchez set a personal best mark of 16.03 meters in the weight throw at the Red Raider Invite. He currently ranks fifth in the LSC in the weight throw and 12th in the shot put.
Sanchez and the Lions head to Lubbock this week to compete in the LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Lion men look to win their fifth consecutive LSC Indoor Championship. The championships for both the men's and women's teams begin Saturday at the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech.
